Lab packers
Lab-pack crews and environmental services firms run every job in Pack-Star: inventory, sorting, packing, manifests and shipments, checked against the rules as they go.
Pack-Star
Software for hazardous waste lab packing
Pack-Star takes the guesswork out of hazardous waste classification with automated chemical sorting, profiling, and manifesting. Designed for flexibility to fit into any business while maintaining rigidity to ensure compliance. Combined with our tracking system Constellar, our ecosystem is built to put you light years ahead of the industry.
The application
Every chemical, set on the right orbit.
Pack-Star is the desktop application designed to be used by field crews, lab managers, site managers, or any preparer of hazardous waste manifests. It ingests the inventory, sorts each chemical against defined rule sets, builds packs to each facility's approvals, writes the e-Manifest and plans the shipments.
The days of segmented knowledge and second-guessing are gone. Every chemical is deterministically sorted to ensure regulations and repeatability are enforced across all links in the chain.

One star, seven bodies
Pack-Star's rules engine is the star at the centre. Click a planet, scroll, swipe or press Next to fly to each stage, or close the tour whenever you like.

Bring in the inventory
Add every chemical on site by name or alias. Pack-Star looks each one up in its own database: UN number, hazard class, packing group and waste codes.

Every placement, checked
The rules engine weighs each chemical against DOT segregation, RCRA, classification and container rules before it goes in a drum. Add your own rule sets for a job.

Packs that match their approvals
Each pack is built to a waste profile the receiving facility has approved, and once it is sealed it stays with that facility.

The e-Manifest, drafted for you
Lines, codes, quantities, management methods, ERG numbers and land disposal restriction notices, written from the packs and published to EPA's RCRAInfo.

Shipments by facility
Group waiting packs by the facility they are bound for, see what fits each shipment, and set the transporters and the date.

Constellar keeps everyone in view
The generator, the transporters and the facility follow the same shipment stage by stage, and Constellar checks it against RCRAInfo's copy.

Closed, on the record
The facility signs for the waste and treats it by the management method on the manifest. Every party sees the shipment close.

Tracking
Every shipment is a constellation.
A shipment joins a generator, its transporters and a receiving facility, the way lines join the stars of a constellation. Constellar draws those lines. Each party sees the shipment's stage, signatures and changes as they happen, at light speed*.
EPA's RCRAInfo is the fixed star everyone navigates by. Constellar compares your manifest with RCRAInfo's copy and tells you when they differ.
*Close enough. Over optical fibre, data travels at about two-thirds the speed of light.
Who it's for
Hazardous waste passes through four kinds of hands. Pack-Star runs the work; Constellar connects the people.
Lab-pack crews and environmental services firms run every job in Pack-Star: inventory, sorting, packing, manifests and shipments, checked against the rules as they go.
Pack-Star
Labs, schools, hospitals and plants follow their waste from the dock to the facility, and keep the record without chasing paper.
Constellar
Drivers and dispatchers see what's waiting, what it is and where it's going before they arrive to pick it up.
Constellar
Treatment, storage and disposal facilities review waste profiles and see incoming shipments before the truck pulls in.
Constellar
Why it matters
Hazardous waste moves through many hands: the lab that made it, the crew that packs it, the drivers who carry it and the facility that treats it. Every wrong code or missed segregation is a risk to those people and to the ground and water nearby. Software that applies the rules the same way every time makes the whole chain safer.
The rules are checked as you pack, not after the drum is closed.
Everyone works from the same shipment and the same manifest.
Changes reach every party the moment they're made.
Questions
Companies that pack laboratory chemicals for disposal: lab-pack crews and environmental services firms. Constellar brings in the generators, transporters and facilities they work with.
No. Pack-Star prepares the manifest and publishes it to EPA's RCRAInfo, which stays the official record. Constellar compares your copy with RCRAInfo's.
DOT hazardous materials and segregation, RCRA waste codes and land disposal restrictions, container limits and each facility's approvals. You can add your own rule sets for a job.
Pack-Star is a desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux. Constellar runs in the browser.
